JKP’s chiptune releases between 2005 and 2010 had a strong influence on how 20kbps and lobit was perceived in that era and it also affected how I looked at my label.
Nine years later, it’s a different world. A different netaudio scene. And of course, 20kbps has changed as well. Nosthalgia is big, everything is retro. JKP takes it some steps further with a short EP dedicated to Film Noir. The four tracks use samples from four movies: Impact, He Walked By Night, Plan 9 From Outer Space and Manos: The Hands Of Fate. Only the first two are Film Noir, the other two are Horror B Movies. Being a cinephile I’ve seen them all, in the period when JKP was first releasing here. You see, everything is connected.
At this site many netlabels are posting their new free releases. Please visit the home pages of the labels to get the free music. The most of the files are published under a creative commons licence.
